Mural in progress. The Mendocino College Mural was especially important to me. I had a chance to paint, field workers, education, industry, history, and geography in a panoramic scene.
The Mural promotes Latino Students graduating from college. I struggle very hard my self-putting my self through. I worked in the fields in the Central San Quaquin Vally, California. It was very hard but with my parent's encouragement and determination, I was able to make get my Post Graduate studies.
One of the ideas of the mural was to show the beauty of the Latino Culture. I centered a figure of a baile Folklorico dancer to emphasize the beauty of dance but also the Latino Culture.
On both sides of the mural, students advance to the center of the mural in graduating attire.
I placed the mural outside to fit all of the canvases together. This way I could get a complete picture of the whole panoramic view. I painted out in the sun so that I could obtain a good look at the colors. That way the indoor lighting would not affect my color perception.
The background images are just suggestions alluding to all of our cultural historical past. I did not want to make a precise diorama of history. But more of an esthetic suggestion.
